Disc Spring Usage Tips
Disc springs can be stacked in a variety of flexible configurations, including stacking in the same direction, stacking in opposite directions, or alternating between forward and reverse directions. To ensure optimal performance, the compression stroke should be controlled between 10% and 75% of the maximum compression stroke. When using multiple disc springs, whether installed on a guide rod or in a guide hole, ensure that the guide rod and guide hole surfaces are smooth and have a guide hardness of at least HRC 55°. During operation, the bottom end of the disc spring should face the direction of load to optimize load distribution.
In addition, to extend the service life of disc springs, they should be adequately lubricated to reduce friction and wear. Various lubrication methods can be used, including oil baths, lubricating oils, stickers containing molybdenum disulfide, and anti-friction varnishes.
Correct Installation Steps for Disc Springs
1. Inspection and Preparation: Confirm that the bolt material, operating parameters, and dimensions meet the requirements; check the integrity and specifications of the disc spring; and ensure that the flange surface contacting the nut is clean and free of foreign matter.
2. Lubrication: Apply lubricant or anti-seize compound to the threads and nut surfaces to ensure uniform tightening during actual use.
3. Installation: Insert the disc spring onto the bolt, ensuring that the concave surface faces the flange and that the disc spring and bolt are concentric. Then, preliminarily tighten all nuts evenly and carefully by hand.
4. Tightening and Adjustment: Place a disc spring on each side of the stud bolts connecting the flanges to ensure a tight fit between the flanges. This compensates for the effects of pressure fluctuations and temperature changes on the seal, achieving a self-tightening gasket seal.
5. Check each bolt individually: Check each bolt counterclockwise or clockwise to ensure they are securely tightened.
6. Diagonal Tightening: To ensure uniform flange tightening, tighten the flanges diagonally. That is, tighten one bolt first, then the diagonal bolt, and so on.
7. Leakage Treatment: For flanges that haven't yet leaked, when adding a disc spring, it's not necessary to replace the flange gasket. Instead, remove one bolt, replace the disc spring, and tighten it. Then, replace the remaining bolts in sequence. After all bolts have been replaced, tighten them again to ensure a proper flange seal. For flanges that have already leaked, replace the gasket before tightening the bolts and adding gaskets.
